SATURDAY 5 MAY Event sponsored by Barbara Stephenson & Phil Lee Ribble Valley Jazz Festival is honoured to welcome the visionary Norweigan keyboardist, composer and producer Bugge Wesseltoft to perform at the 2018 festival. Bugge, his solo work covers a broad spectrum: from melodic piano parts to experimental and atonal music and noise and even manages to find space to integrate a new version of a standard. Many rhythms and grooves, both primeval and modern, are looped and entwined, and often sounds are distorted and reshaped on the fly; the concerts have a strong free improvisational component. Bugge released a beautiful solo piano album "Everybody Loves Angels" in October 2017 as a follow up to his groundbreaking "New Conception of Jazz". Bugge's live performance will be preceded by an hour long workshop, where he will talk exclusively to the audience about his career and music.
