This evening’s jazz was an absolute delight. We had not planned to go, but the advertised “Jazz standards from 1920’s to 1960’s” swung it for us! The location was our dream venue, from welcoming staff who sat us at a table near “the band”, interesting menu, ginger beer, wide range of beers etc. Service and food both excellent. Ambience was so pleasing, room proportions excellent and acoustically superb that the band gave us a very happy 3 hrs identifying the pieces and reminiscing! We commented on how involved the musicians were and how well they communicated the emotional content of the “standards”. 10/10 from both of us! Thank you to The Jazz Club 3 and The Aspinall Arms. Zoe played the Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge last summer (2018) and was a great hit. Impressive vocal skills and great song writing. An evening to remember and we're glad that she ventured all the way down to the West Midlands, it was a treat. Enjoy.

Very pleased to have this Improvisation Workshop on Festival programme, and to have it linked to a Cold Bath Street performance - both at The Assembly Rooms (formerly The Catholic Social Club, Clitheroe. It links us with UCLan, and brings another side to our festival programme. Welcome to Simon Partridge & Team!

When programming this festival, or any festival & club event, we aim to recall that jazz is a heritage of black history - We should never forget! Phil Lee's presentation/talk will give a potted history of jazz, that will remind us of jazz's history, and draw strings from jazz of the early 19th C to today's jazz. Might help those of you who don' think they like jazz, or understand where it came from? This session might also help jazzers, and non-jazzers alike, to appreciate the importance of another priority for festival organisers, that of having a strong commitment to ensuring the fest programme respects the need for it to be Culturally Diverse!!! Geoff Believe it!!!
