On-The-Edge Stage: J Frisco & Andchuck
Start off at the festival's new 'On-the-Edge' Stage featuring J Frisco (at 1pm), and then Andchuck at 2.15pm with a £7 ticket.
The J Frisco band met at Leeds College of Music. They are a free, experimental trio combining art & poetry with improvised music. They want to change perceptions and break down boundaries through improvisation. Their stylish improvised music takes on themes of gender, property & mental health.
Andchuck, a modern/experimental jazz quartet, met at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music. Influences include Esbjorn Svensson Trio, Impossible Gentlemen & Snarky Puppy. This dynamic contemporary quartet brings new sounds to jazz, combining intriguing melodies, funky grooves, and colourful harmonies. Expect original compositions and maybe one or two jazz classic.
J Frisco: Jemma Freese - keyboards; Lara Jones - saxophone; Megan Roe - guitar
Andchuck: Tom Chapman - bass; Caitlin Laing - saxophone; Jack March - guitar; Gabriel Alexander - drums
Why not buy a Combined 'On-the-Edge' Stage ticket for £12 (£10 members), and finish off the afternoon by seeing jazz/punk band World Service Project too!
