Eric Ainsworth Quartet with Arthur Geldard with Trish Ferrarin and Sam French

Ribble Valley Jazz Festival presents ‘Lunchtime Live Revival’ at the United Reformed Church, Clitheroe. Local Jazz musicians Trish Ferrarin (piano) and Sam French (sax) start this concert with a classical piece, Phil Wood’s Sonata for Piano & Sax.

After a short break for lunch, Eric Ainsworth can celebrate over 60 years a very popular performer and resident band leader for 6 years at The Grand’s Lunchtime Live sessions, introduces his trio, and guest musicians, Andy Wallace (sax), and Arthur Geldard (vocals). The band will play some classic tunes from the American Songbook, as part of a celebration of Eric’s contribution to playing jazz piano for over 60 years.

Eric Ainsworth’s Eric’s career in jazz has seen him play in many of Lancashire’s jazz clubs. He has given so much enjoyment and pleasure to jazz audiences, and he has also built up an broad based knowledge of jazz and jazz musicians of which most musicians would be proud. Eric has also got an enviable wide network of colleagues on which he can call as guests at any of his performances. A Lifetime member of Ribble Valley jazz & blues he has appeared at all nine Ribble Valley Jazz Festivals, and is a regular to Dinner Jazz sessions at the Spread Eagle, Sawley, and the Shireburn Arms, Hurst Green, for Ribble Valley Jazz & Blues.

Arthur Geldard is a young up-and-coming singer from Lancashire, making his debut at the Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues Festival in 2017 His influences include Frank Sinatra, Joe Williams and Chet Baker. Arthur started in the Clitheroe Grammar School Swing Band, and kept up his passion for jazz whilst at university, singing for Leeds University Big Band. After taking a trip to Chicago for the summer to sing with Big Bands and soak up the city’s vibrant jazz scene, Arthur is back to sing some tunes from the Great American Songbook, putting a fresh spin on some classic numbers.
